Boise motherhood photographer sharing soft, simple in-home maternity self portraits and encouragement for moms in this busy season.

As a Boise motherhood photographer, I believe some of the most meaningful images happen right at home.
There is something sacred about this season — the quiet waiting, the slow mornings, and the tiny kicks that remind you your body is doing something miraculous.
Right now, I’m pregnant with baby number three, and this pregnancy looks very different from my first. With my first baby, I took a photo every single week. I documented every bump update and every change because I had the space to notice it all.
However, things feel different this time.
Now my hands are full — and maybe yours are too.
Between raising littles, running a home, working, and managing everyone else’s needs, it becomes incredibly easy to let this season quietly slip by. In fact, the more babies you have, the faster it seems to go.
Recently, I looked at my camera roll and realized something that stopped me in my tracks: I barely had five photos of myself pregnant this time.
Five.
At that moment, I knew that if I didn’t intentionally make time for this, I would someday look back and regret it. So instead of waiting for perfect conditions, I did something simple.
I found a corner next to the window.

If you’re pregnant with your second baby — or your third, or even your fourth — this part is for you.
I know how different it feels now. You’re more tired than you were the first time. You’re more stretched. And at the same time, you’re needed in a hundred different ways.
Because of that, it’s easy to think, “I’ll remember this without photos.”
But the truth is, memory fades.
This exact version of your family — the little ones at your feet, the baby growing inside you, the woman you are right now — will never exist again in quite the same way. Although it feels ordinary today, one day it will feel extraordinary.
That’s exactly why it matters.
My bedroom wasn’t spotless. There were laundry piles, toys, and the kind of beautiful chaos that naturally comes with motherhood. Still, there was soft natural light pouring through the window.
So instead of focusing on what wasn’t ideal, I stepped into what was available.
I cropped tighter.
I moved distractions out of the frame.
I let the light fall gently across my belly.
As a result, what you see in the final images isn’t the mess or the unfinished to-do list. Instead, you see softness, connection, anticipation, and love.
That’s the beauty of in-home maternity photos.
You don’t need perfect weather.
You don’t need a finished nursery.
You don’t need a spotless house.
You simply need intention.

It can be tempting to wait until life slows down. However, life with children rarely does.
So rather than waiting for perfect timing, find the window. Clear a small space. Let yourself step into the light and take the photo.
Years from now, your children won’t notice what was outside the frame. Instead, they’ll see how you carried them, how you waited for them, and how deeply they were loved before they even arrived.
And in the end, that will matter far more than a perfectly styled room ever could.
